Ma délután 18:16-kor (UTC+8) 7.6-es erősségű földrengés rázta meg Indonézia keleti partját. A rengés epicentruma 475 km-re volt Kuala Lumpurtól.
Én még dolgoztam (ma későn kezdtem), fejemen fejhallgatóval, amikor azt láttam, hogy egy csomó kollégám az ablaknál gyülekezik. Nem nagyon figyeltem oda rájuk, mert úgy éreztem, mint akiből kiment az erő és remeg a lába, mert össze akar esni. De nem a lábam remegett, hanem az irodaház. A kollégák meg azt nézték, hogy a szomszédos épület tetején (úgy 25 emelet magasságban) levő medencében hogyan hullámzik a víz.
Nem pánikoltam életem első (és remélhetőleg utolsó) földrengése alkalmából, de azért pillanatok alatt összekaptam a cuccomat és uzsgyi, már a lépcsőházban is voltam. Mivel a 36. emeleten dolgozom, eltartott egy ideig, mire leértem, főként, hogy menet közben egyre nőtt a tömeg. Lent vártam 20 percet pár kolléga társaságában, de mivel nem volt több mozgás, visszamentem velük.
Valójában egészen kicsi és rövid ideig tartó remegés volt csupán, de egy toronyház tetején azért elég kellemetlen volt érezni.
Van egy csodálatos vonatkozása az eseménynek: nagyszüleink talán nem is tudtak Szumátráról, mi meg az interneten, pár perccel a földrengés után már olvashatjuk a tudományos részleteket és nem sokkal utána már a híroldalakon is írnak róla. Valós idejű tájékoztatás! Éljen

This afternoon at 6:19pm (UTC+8) an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 has shaken the Eastern coast of Indonesia. The epicenter of the quake was 475 km from Kuala Lumpur.
I was still working (I started late this morning), with headphones on my head when I saw that many of my colleagues are gathering at the window. I did not pay much attention to them because I felt as someone whose all the strength departed him and his legs are shaking as if he was going to collapse. But it was not my legs but the office tower. And the colleagues were watching the waves in the pool on the roof of the neighboring building (on the 25th floor or so).
I did not panic on the occasion of my first (and hopefully last) earthquake, but I picked up my stuff in no time and bang, I was already in the staircase. Since I work on the 35th floor it took some time to get down, especially because the crowd grew and grew during my descent. With some of my colleagues I waited for 10 mins on the ground, but since there were no more shaking, we went back to work.
Actually it was a really weak and short tremor only, not on the top of a skyscraper it was very uncomfortable feeling.
There is a fascinating aspect of this event: our grandparents might not even have known about Sumatra, and we can read about the scientific details of the earthquake on the Internet a few minutes later and soon after it the news portals already report on it. Real-time information! Long live
